Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. For Yahweh is good, and His love is eternal; His faithfulness endures through all generations. Psalms 100:4 HCSB
If you go to church, this is a good thing. I highly recommend it. If you don’t go to church, I recommend that you find a good Bible teaching church that rightly divides God’s Word.
The problem is there are many people sitting on church pews for the wrong reason. God evaluates our motives. He knows our hearts. He considers our attitude when we show up to worship Him.
Maybe you think God made you to be great at the job you do. Maybe you thought God made you to be a great father, brother, mother, sister, uncle, aunt or whatever. The truth is, God made you to be in close fellowship with Him. God created man in His own image. He wants us to be like Him. He wants us to be in a close relationship with Him. He wants us to worship Him for the right reasons. When we are right with God, we will be a good employee, spouse, parent and all He calls us to be.
He doesn’t want our half-hearted worship out of a sense of obligation. He doesn’t want us to come to church to make others happy. He wants us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. He wants it all.
When we give our tithes and offerings, God doesn’t want us to do this to impress others. He doesn’t want us to do it because we feel we have to. He wants us to give willingly with cheerful hearts (2 Corinthians 9:6-7).
Would you marry someone who didn’t love you? Would you really want to commit to spend the rest of your life with someone who was with you for the wrong motives? Would you want to be with someone who didn’t cherish you and respect you?
Well, God wants this from us. He wants our love, our commitment, our reverence and our total devotion. And He wants all these things for all the right reasons.
I’m going to keep this short and sweet. Today is Saturday, will you be going to church tomorrow? Will you be giving your time and your tithe or offerings to the Lord? If so, this is good. Before you commit to this, however, I want you to ask yourself why you are going and giving?
Are you going and giving for the right reasons? Are you doing these things because you love the Lord with all your heart and you are grateful for all He has done for you and given to you? I hope so, because God looks at our motives. He sees our heart.
If your heart is not right with God, He will help you get it right. Talk to Him. Trust in Him and surrender to Him. If you have been failing to attend church and give or have been doing so with the wrong motives, repent. God will not despise a broken and humbled heart (Psalm 51:17).
Why not get right with God, right now?
Have a great day!
