In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. John 1:1-2 HCSB
Jesus told him, “I am the way the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
Our first Scripture passage is what John said when he was describing Jesus, and the second Scripture passage is a quote from Jesus Himself. The Bible tells us not to be deceived. The only way to avoid falling for the devil’s lies is to remain in the truth. We know that Jesus Christ is the truth.
If we abide in Jesus Christ and study His words and know what the Bible says, we can refute the devil and keep from falling for the lies he loves to tell us. Anything that goes against God’s Holy word is a lie straight from the pits of hell.
We get ourselves into trouble when we want what the flesh wants and fail to walk in the Spirit. We are told in Galatians 5:16 to walk in the Spirit so as not to satisfy the desires of the flesh.
It takes work and concentration to follow Jesus. We know that we are saved by grace through faith, but we must stand strong against temptation. We must understand the devil knows his time is short. He knows he will ultimately lose, but he wants to take as many of us with him as he possibly can. He will tell us whatever we want to hear to get us on his side. He wants us to fall into deliberate sin. He wants us to be thrown into the lake of fire along with him and all the others who have fallen for his lies.
I don’t know about you, but it has always been a pet peeve of mine for someone to lie to me. I worked many years in law enforcement and often had people lie to me. That didn’t bother me so much, I would expect nothing less of criminals. It was when those I trusted lied to me that it hurt and got me angry.
Jesus is the truth; He is God’s word. The one thing He absolutely cannot do is lie. We can trust in Him.
Many of us hate to be lied to, but we fall for the devil’s lies. We fall for the lies of false teachers and preachers who tell us it’s okay to do the very things that go against God’s word
Jack Nicholson had a famous line in the movie, A Few Good Men where he said, “You can’t handle the truth.” So, I ask you today can you handle the truth? Will you trade the truth for a lie if it allows you to do what you want to do, even if it means standing before the Great White Throne of Judgment and being thrown into the lake of fire?
These are things we must consider. I guess the big question we should be asking is do we believe the Bible? The Bible clearly tells us we will be held accountable for all we do. It tells us in Revelation 21:5 that the cowards, the unbelievers, the vile, the sexually immoral, the sorcerers, the idolaters, and all liars will be thrown into the lake of fire.
In Revelation 20, God throws Satan into a pit for 1,000 years. In verse three it says He threw him into the pit or the abyss and closed it and put a seal on it so that he would no longer deceive the nations until the 1.000 years were completed. After those 1,000 years God will release him so he can war against God, then God will quickly bring it all to an end and the devil will be thrown into the lake of fire where he will be tormented day and night forever.
My friend, this is the truth according to God’s Holy word. I beg of you to understand that the time to understand what is true and what is false is right now. Trust in Jesus Christ, the truth. Don’t believe the lies the devil tells you.
Get it right before it’s too late.
Have a great day!
