Then the people brought little children to Jesus for Him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:13-14 NIV
I love talking with my six year old niece about Jesus. Her faith is just so pure and innocent. She loves God and she knows that God loves her and that’s that. That wonderful child like faith that all children should have before the world steps in and causes us to lose faith. This is the kind of faith we can all have before friends betray us and loved ones take advantage of us.
I used to really enjoy teaching the 3-5 year olds in AWANA. They were so eager to learn about the Bible and so eager to trust in Jesus. If only we could all be like that.
Now sadly many children suffer abuse and betrayal at very young ages and all I can say is woe unto the person that mistreats a child.
Of course, we can’t hit the rewind button and go back to the carefree days of our childhood, but we can trust in Jesus to take care of all of our worries and our problems. We can have that simple, child like faith.
We just have to choose to do so. We have to choose to cast our cares on Jesus. We have to choose to trust Him and know that He’s got this. Why is it to hard to do when we become adults? Well, that one is easy. Once we have become adults, we have been let down. We have suffered at the hands of those who are supposed to love us. We have experienced heartache and sadness. We have experienced devastating loss.
But no matter what we go through, we can count on Jesus to be right there to place His hands on us. He is never too busy to make time for us.
My prayer for you today is that you are able to return to your child like faith. What better way to lighten our hearts than to cast our cares on Jesus?
And if you are having trouble doing this, just find a 4-6 year old that can put it all in perspective for you. They usually do a great job of explaining things.
I hope that you are able to do this today.
Have a great day!
