It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night. Psalm 92:1-2 NIV
Praising God is a good thing. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the busyness of our day that we forget to do the most important thing, praise God. It’s as if we forget that God gives us life. God gives us our jobs, our families, all that we have are gifts from God. Perhaps you are in a job that you hate and you aren’t very happy about God giving that to you. Well maybe God has you there for a reason. Many years ago I found myself in a job that I loved. I bragged to my mom about how I loved my job. Within two months, I hated my job. There was a change in our administration and it started at the top and trickled down. We were being told to do things that made no sense by people who had never really worked our jobs. It was crazy. I prayed and prayed for God to get me out of there. After months of praying and not being able to find a job with comparable pay and benefits, I realized that God had me there for a reason. I encountered a lot of people that needed that little nudge to get to know God better. I started doing just that, giving people that little nudge. Encouraging them just a little bit. My job became much more tolerable. Within a couple years, God led me out of there to another job where I could do the same. God had a purpose for me and He has a purpose for you.
However, if you are whining and complaining to God about how horrible things are, you may not be able to hear the purpose and the plans He has for you. We are to praise God. Praise him even when things aren’t going so well. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
Set aside time in your day to praise God, praise Him in the morning and at night. Praise God by going to church and meeting with fellow believers. I have often heard people tell me that they don’t have to go to church to get to heaven. They are correct. My question is, why would you not want to go to church? I get refreshed by spending time with my brothers and sisters in Christ and studying God’s word with them.
This scripture passage says we should proclaim our love in the morning. God loves us. He showed His love by giving us the most awesome gift, His one and only Son. All we have to do is believe in Him and He will give us everlasting life, an eternity in glory with God the Father. Don’t you think that is worthy of our praise?
The scripture passage also says that we should praise Him for his faithfulness at night. One thing I have learned and you will hear me say it over and over is, “God’s got this”. No matter how bleak things may appear in the moment, I know that God is true to His word. His word tells me in Romans 8:28 that He works all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. I thank God for that. I love Him and I try my best to do the things that He calls me to do. Therefore, I know that he works all things for my good! Praise God!
My prayer for you today is that you are in a good, close relationship with your savior, Jesus Christ. I pray that you are mindful of His presence in your life. I pray that you are taking the time to praise Him daily and more than once a day. I pray that you are experiencing the best that a life lived with Jesus has to offer. And if you are experiencing the wonderful life lived with your Lord and Savior then I also pray that you are sharing this with others. The joy and peace that this brings to your life is truly amazing.
Don’t forget to praise Him. Have a great day!
