Enough Said

God replied to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.”

I remember the first time I read that, and I thought, “What kind of answer is this?” Moses had asked God about going to Pharaoh as God had instructed. He had asked God, “Who should I tell them has sent me?” Our Scripture passage was God’s reply, but what does that really mean?

If we understand God is all we need this makes perfect sense. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33 all we need is to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all will be provided for us. Jesus is all we need. In the book of John, Jesus uses seven “I AM” statements. In 6:35 Jesus says, “I am the bread of life.”  All who come to Jesus will not hunger or thirst. In 8:12 He says, “I am the light of the world.” We will never live in darkness if we surrender to Christ. In 10:7,9 Jesus says, “I am the door.” Jesus is the doorway that leads us into eternal life with God the Father. In 10:11,14 Jesus says, “I am the good shepherd.” Like sheep we have a tendency to go astray and get into places that are dangerous for us. A good shepherd leads us and protects us. In 11:25, He says I am the resurrection and the life. Only through Jesus Christ can we be resurrected and brought out of bondage to sin and death and have eternal life. In 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” Jesus is the only way to God. Jesus is the truth. We know the devil is a liar, and no truth is found in Him (John 8:44). The only way to eternal life is through Jesus Christ. In 15:1,5 Jesus says, “I am the true vine.” A branch that is broken away from the vine cannot survive. It will shrivel up and die and be thrown into the fire (John 15:6). We cannot survive without Jesus. We must remain connected to Him for life.

If you are not in a close, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you may not understand that He is everything and all you need. But my friend if you are in a solid relationship with Him, you know good and well that all you need in your life is Him.

If you are living a life without Him, then you are living a life without having all you need. Our heart has a Jesus sized hole that only He can fill. We can’t fill it with money, material possessions, alcohol, drugs, sex, a career, relationships or anything else. Only Jesus will satisfy our every need. Surrender to Him today and you will have all you need. Then you will see that when God told Moses, “I AM…” that was enough said. That summed it up and it’s all we need to know.

Have a great day!
