You Can’t Beat God

For this is what love for God is: to keep His commands. Now His commands are not a burden, because whatever has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith. And who is the one that conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?     1 John 5:3-5 HCSB

God has conquered the world. Jesus conquered death when he rose from the grave. Conquering the world almost seems too good to be true, doesn’t it?  When we think about an eternity in a place where there are many mansions with streets paved with gold and gates made of pearl and walls inlaid with precious stones, it sounds like there must be a catch, doesn’t it? And actually, there is. We have to love the Lord with all our hearts, all our souls, and all our minds. We have to surrender all to Him.  When we love God with all we have, we surrender our lives to Him. We give Him all our sin, our problems and worries, and we love and serve Him.

Many of us, me included, try to find a way around this. We, as God’s creatures, try to beat Him in the world He created.

I am both amused and saddened by those who try to beat God. If we want to be victorious, we need God on our side. We don’t need to try to shortchange Him. We need to surrender all. You can’t beat God at the game of life because He created the universe and us.

You can’t beat God if you struggle and fight against Him because ultimately, He will just give you over to your sinful ways (Romans 1:20-24) which means misery here on earth and eternity in hell.

If you feel like your life is a struggle and you wish all these people around you would change, you may want to consider making some changes yourself. Are you living as God commanded us to live? Are you loving Him with all your heart, soul, and mind? Are you serving Him?

If not, everyone else may not be the problem, just sayin’. I used to live my life thinking I could sort of halfway serve God and just do what I wanted to do. I made some additions and deletions to the Ten Commandments and was hoping God would go along with that. He didn’t.

I got tired of fighting against God and decided it might be better to surrender to Him. It was. It was way better. My total surrender to Him brought peace and joy to my life. It brought good Christian friends who mentored me along the way. I will always be a work in progress till God calls me home. Praise God, I am now enjoying the journey.

Not only am I enjoying the journey, but God’s word promises good for me at the end. In John 14:2, Jesus told His disciples, “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you.” He’s preparing a place in heaven for those of us who love Him and follow Him.

Revelation 21:4 says, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will no longer exist; grief, crying, and pain will exist no longer because the previous things have passed away.” Death, sorrow, and sadness will be a thing of the past.”

There is no better way than God’s way. You can’t beat the goodness that God gives to His children who choose to love and follow Him.

You also can’t defeat God. He will always be victorious. The devil likes to make us think, we can live as we want to live and still win at this game called life. He is a liar.

We are told in Revelation 21:8 that the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars-their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.

You will never defeat God; He will always be victorious, and so will you if you surrender to Him.

You can’t beat His goodness. Trust me, nobody will ever love you more than the One who surrendered His only Son to save you from sin and death. What are you waiting for? Surrender to Him today.

Have a great day!
