If I close the sky so there is no rain, or if I command the grasshopper to consume the land, or if I send pestilence on My people, and My people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.  2 Chronicles 7:13-14 HCSB

Pestilence is defined as a fatal epidemic disease and the bubonic plague is given as an example. Perhaps the dictionary will be updated to use COVID-19 as an example.

For years the universe has been on a downward spiral. I cannot speak for what has been going on in other nations, but our nation has not done so well. We have gone from a nation founded on Biblical principles to a nation that thinks abortion at any stage is okay. We are almost to the point to where straight people are the ones retreating to the closet. Gender is something that can be considered to be determined at a later date. Maybe eventually expectant mothers won’t even have ultrasounds, what’s the use? The child can determine what gender it chooses to be later in life.

Sex trafficking has become common place. It’s gone from being something that happens in foreign countries to something that is happening in our own front yards, not even our backyards.

I think we can all agree that this world is in terrible shape. Just yesterday, my nephew and I were talking about how so much of society has refused to obey God. This pattern has gone on for many years. Maybe God is just fed up. Maybe He is trying to give us a wakeup call. How long will it take before we get it? How many people will die before it is understood?

People like to question how such a loving God could send pestilence on the world? Well, my friend, we know that God is loving but the Bible is very clear on the fact that God’s wrath will come down hard on those who refuse to obey. John 3:36 says that whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. In Romans 5:25, Paul warns, “But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.” Ephesians 5:6 says let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes up on the sons of disobedience.

I don’t know about you, but I think God is angry. I think God is fed up. I think He is trying to get our attention. Does he have yours yet? Are you ready for this to come to an end? I know I am. It’s up to us. It’s not up to the politicians, the government, or the scientists, it’s up to us.

Our scripture passage clearly tells us that if God sends pestilence on the land and we will just humble ourselves and seek Him and turn from our evil ways that He will hear us and heal our land. My friend, our land has never needed healing like it does right now. I beg of you to humble yourself by getting down on your knees and crying out to God. Turn to Him and trust in Him to heal our land.
