Still In The Miracle Business

I will reflect on all You have done and meditate on your actions. God, your way is holy. What god is great like God? You are the God who works wonders; You revealed Your strength among the peoples. With power you redeemed Your people, descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.  Psalms 77:12-15 HCSB

When we read the Bible there are so many stores of miracles that God performed. Noah had faith enough to build this great ark in a land that had never seen rain. A young shepherd boy named David killed a giant with only a sling shot. Daniel spent the night in the Lion’s den and was unharmed. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego walked through fire unsinged. In the battle of Jehoshaphat the two vast armies that came against Judah and Jerusalem destroyed each other. A young virgin gave birth to our Savior. Jesus healed the sick and brought a dead man back to life. He turned one young boy’s lunch into enough food to feed well over 5,000 people and even have some left over. He walked on water and calmed the seas. He gave His disciples power to work miracles as well and after He ascended, Peter and John healed the lame man.

It’s easy for us to read our Bible and tend to believe that these miracles only happened back then, but my friend Jesus is still in the miracle business today. When we pray and we have faith and we align our will with God’s, we will be amazed at what He can do. I could recall numerous miracles that I have seen in my life, but so we won’t be here all day, I will recall three to mind.

My niece just celebrated her 16th birthday a month ago. She was born under some scary circumstances. There were some medical complications that could have caused the death of her and her mother. Medical staff said that a minute or two later and it would have. They are both alive and healthy today, praise God.

My eight year old niece developed an infection when she was three weeks old. The doctors told us that if she survived, which they thought was doubtful, that she would be severely neurologically damaged. But, God healed her 100 percent and I am happy to report that she too, is a happy, healthy eight year old today.

A friend in law enforcement was shot six times. He told me that four times in the ambulance ride, he went to what he believes was heaven and each time was sent back. He said the fourth time he begged them not to send him back because of the excruciating pain. He never felt anymore pain and walked out of the hospital two weeks later. The doctors were amazed.

Just a couple days ago a dear friend’s mother was in the hospital. She had numerous health issues like diabetes and a severe infection that had spread into her bloodstream. I had flashbacks of my former pastor. He suffered diabetes and contracted an infection which spread into his bloodstream. Though many tear filled prayers cried out to God for his healing, our dear Shepherd was called home to spend eternity with God the Father.

Naturally, when I heard about my friend’s mom, I was worried but I prayed. I trusted God as many others did as well. My friend literally said that they were hoping for a miracle. That’s just what God gave them. I am happy to report that her mom came through her surgery beautifully and is now in rehab.

When things seem impossible, I can draw from an entire bank of stored memories of miracles. I have seen God part the Red Sea so that I may walk through on dry ground. I have walked through the fire without even the smell of smoke on me. I have slayed the giant with a stone. My friend, God is still in the miracle business. We must trust in Him. We must have faith. We must remember that God works all things for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). We serve a mighty God who is still in the miracle business. Give your cares to Him and trust in Him to do what is best.

Have a great day!
