The Way God Works

Let the wicked one abandon his way and the sinful one his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, so he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will freely forgive.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways.”  This is the LORD’s declaration. “For as heaven is higher than earth, so My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”  Isaiah 55:7-9 HCSB

There are many times that things happen that I do not understand. There have been times when God was working things out for my good, but it seemed like the worst thing that could possibly happen to me. This is because as mere mortals, we do not always understand how God works. I have gone through things that I thought were horrible only to find years later that this situation worked out perfectly for me. God had worked it all out when I thought He was tearing it down.

We all have those things that we are good at, some of us are good at mechanical issues, some are good with technology, some are good with English, some are good with foreign languages, some are good with Math. But we all also have our limitations. God has no limitations. He knows all. He is omniscient. We can’t wrap our little heads around most of the things that He has done and is doing.

This is why faith is such an important part of our walk with Him. We must have faith. We have to trust that God works all things for our good when we love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). We must believe that God has good plans for us, plans for our welfare and not for evil, plans to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We must believe that God protects us when we choose to live in His shelter (Psalm 91:1-2). We must believe that we can do all things through Christ who give us strength (Philippians 4:13). We have to trust the way God works even when we have no clue what He is up to.  We must understand that our little brains can’t comprehend His vast knowledge. We must understand that He knows what our future holds and He wants to work it all out for us even if the process is painful at times.

We also have to let go and give it all over to Him. If we trust in Him, then it is much easier to give all our worries and cares over to Him.

There was a time in my life when I thought I had it going on. I thought that I could conquer the world. I thought that whatever problem that came my way, I could figure it out. All this brought me was more problems. The more problems that came my way, the more I tried to solve them. It was a vicious cycle and I must say that it took me a while to figure out that I had spent years spinning my wheels. I had been trying to handle things that I should have been turning over to God. I had allowed these problems to distract me from Him and His will for my life.

When I finally gave it all over to God and trusted Him with it, it was like this tremendous burden was lifted. Oh, there was some suffering that I still had to go through, but it was nothing like it had been in the past. I knew God was right there with me. I knew that He was holding me up when I was too weak to stand (Isaiah 41:10). I knew that He was fighting my battle for me (2 Chronicles 20:17).

My friend, when you are finally able to truly let go and let God handle these problems for you, it is such a relief. If you are struggling with these problems and wondering what you are going to do, please stop. Please just give it all over to Him today. Please trust in Him and allow Him to carry your heavy load (Matthew 11:28). You will be so glad you did. I did this 9 and a half years ago and let me tell you, it has been such a relief.

I know that you are afraid to give up control, but remember you are not really in control. The reason you struggle is because you refuse to let go of something that you never should have grabbed on to in the first place. You have been playing tug of war with God. Spoiler alert-you are not going to win! Give it over to Him today and He will allow you to be more than victorious (Romans 8:37). So, today, why not just trust in God and sit back and watch the way He works? Oh and don’t forget to enjoy the peace and joy that He provides as He gives you victory.

Have a great day!
