But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 KJV
What are you waiting for? I’m willing to bet that as you read this, you are waiting for something. Perhaps you are waiting to start your day. Perhaps you are waiting for the end of your day. Maybe you are waiting for justice in some situation where someone has perpetrated some evil act against you or someone you love. Maybe you’re waiting for the love of your life to sweep you off your feet. Maybe you are waiting for healing. During our life here on planet earth, we are usually waiting for something.
Our scripture passage tells us that when we wait upon the Lord, the almighty, all powerful God, that we will have our strength renewed. We will mount up with wings like eagles. We are told that we will run and not grow tired and walk and not faint. So again I ask what are you waiting for? Maybe a better question is what will you do while you wait. Often times when we are in a pattern of waiting it is easier to find some way to occupy our time.
While we are waiting for the Lord, we should be waiting upon the Lord, we should be serving Him. We should be focusing on God. Otherwise it will make that whole waiting thing very boring and perhaps frustrating. But, when we serve the Lord while we wait, we keep our focus on Him, not on the waiting. So, not only do we pass the time faster, but we do what pleases the Lord.
I don’t know what you are waiting for today, but might I suggest that you spend this time serving the Lord. When we do this, we handle his business and He handles ours. It’s a great trade off.
You might have heard it said that the waiting is the hardest part. We are sometimes told to hurry up and wait. Galatians 6:9 tells us not to grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap if we don’t give up. So, today I encourage you not to get frustrated while you wait. We know that God’s timing is the best timing. I encourage you to focus on God and trust Him to bring you through this time.
While you wait focus on God. Know that he has good plans for you (Jeremiah 29:11). Know that as long as you love him and are called according to His purpose, He is working all things out for your good(Romans 8:28).
We live in a fast paced world where we want everything yesterday. We have superfast internet, rush delivery on packages, fast food, fast cars and we are always in a hurry. But, we all have to wait for something. While you wait, make the most of your time. Focus on God and trust in His timing. Habakkuk 2:3 tells us that the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end-it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
God’s timing is perfect. He knows what we need when we need it. Trust in Him, focus on Him and serve Him while you wait. This will make whatever you are waiting for worth the wait.
Have a great day!
