Oh The Power

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.  I pray that the perception of your mind may be enlightened so you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the glorious riches of His inheritance among the saints and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power to us who believe according to the working of His vast strength.      Ephesians 1:17-19  HCSB

If you are reading this, I want you to know that I pray the same prayer for you that Paul prayed for the Ephesians in our scripture passage this morning.  I pray that God will give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.  I pray that you may know what awaits you when you live your life according to the calling that He has for you.  I pray that you will understand the glorious riches that await you and I pray that you will understand His limitless power and His vast strength.  We are told in Acts 1:8 that we will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon us.  We are told in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

I think we often fail to realize the vast power that we have access to when we call on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Matthew 19:26 tells us that while some things may be impossible for man, that with God all things are possible.

The bottom line is this, we are powerless without God.  On our own, we have no power, we just think we do.  But with God, there is nothing we can’t do.  There is nothing that may come against us that is stronger than God.  But in order to receive it, we must believe it.  We must believe that Jesus Christ is Lord.  We must trust in Him as our Lord and Savior.  We must confess our sins and repent and ask Jesus to come into our heart.  1 Timothy 2:5 tells us that there is one God and there is one mediator between God and men and that is Jesus.  Jesus is our intercessor and our way to God the Father through whom we receive our power and our strength.

When I was a child, I had no money, no home, and no vehicle..  But I had parents who had these things.  Through my parents I had a roof over my head, food to eat, clothes to wear and transportation to get where I needed to go.  It’s much like that with God.  We have nothing on our own.  He controls the universe.  All that we receive is a gift from God.  We have no power on our own, but we have strength and power through Him.

If you are a child of God, you have power and strength through Him.  All things are possible for you through our Lord and Savior.  In 2 Timothy 1:7 we are told that god gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.  If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:33)?

If you are not a child of God, what are you waiting for?  Time is short my friend.  Don’t delay, run, don’t walk to God.  Submit yourself to Him.  Trust in Him.  Psalm 28:7 says The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts and I am helped.  God is waiting with open arms, but He won’t wait forever.  The world has become a scary place, stop trying to fight it on your own.

It took me many years to realize that I was a mere mortal, a weakling.  I finally realized that life was so much easier, when I turned it over to God.  Now I live under his protection and filled with His strength and His power.  So I leave you with the words of Ephesians 6:10, Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

Have a great day!
