Play-Doh and Silly Putty

Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.  Romans 12:2 HCSB

I don’t know about you, but when I was growing up, I loved to play with Play-Doh and Silly Putty.  In all honesty, I enjoy it when my younger nieces and nephews invite me to join them when they play with these things.  The great thing about Play-Doh and Silly Putty is that they are great for the imagination because they are pliable and you can form them into anything.

Silly Putty even copies images from newspaper or the funny papers. Sadly when we are lost we tend to conform to the world or imitate those that are in the world and not those that are in the Spirit.

We must remember though that we are not to be like Play-Doh and Silly Putty where the world is concerned.  We are told to be imitators of Christ.  Once we accept Christ as our savior, we are to allow Him to mold us into whatever it is that He intends for us to be.  But, we are not to conform to what the world calls us to be.  Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has great plans for us.  When we submit to God’s will for our lives, it brings us peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and unending joy (Isaiah 35:10).  When we conform to the world, we live on a roller coaster ride of emotions controlled by circumstances.

As Christians, we need to be solid.  Psalm 16:8, I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.  When we submit to Christ, we need to go to Him like clay, soft and ready to be molded into whatever God is calling us to be.  But once Christ has molded us, we face the world like a rock.  We should be strong and solid in our Lord and Savior.

We must understand that when we are saved, this angers the devil.  He will begin to work overtime to destroy our resolve.  He wants us to backslide and return to our worldly ways.  But we must be strong, we must not conform to the ways of this world.

As you read this, I don’t know if you are conforming to the ways of the world or if you have submitted your will to your Lord and Savior. My prayer for you today is that you submit to the Lord and allow Him to mold you and make you into what He needs you to be. When you do this, you are rewarded with peace and joy in your life. You allow God, who knows what’s best for you and what your future holds, to guide you.

If you have submitted to Christ, then remain strong. Don’t allow the world to conform you to its ways but allow God to transform you into the best that you can be.

Have a great day!
