We Need Jesus

Be on your guard, so that your minds are not dulled from carousing, drunkenness, and worries of life, or that day will come on you unexpectedly like a trap.  For it will come on all who live on the face of the whole earth.  But be alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place and to stand before the Son of Man.  Luke 21:34-36  HCSB

I don’t know about you, but I look around me and I see a whole lot of people that need Jesus in their lives. Our news reports are filled with things that seem unimaginable.  Recently a young man in a neighboring parish killed his parents and his girlfriend’s family.  Local schools are locking bathrooms, I guess because of what has been taking place in there.  Young students are sexually active and even sending nude photos.  Drug abuse runs rampant.  We recently had several local narcotics officers who pled guilty to dealing drugs.  There are reports of teachers and priests having sexual relations with minors.  We need Jesus.

What happens is when people reject Jesus, the devil is right there to take control.  And when the devil takes control, we see the type of moral degradation and decay that is happening in our world today.

Now we know that these are signs of end times.  We know that the Lord is coming to bring His children home.  So I want you to understand that we must be ready.  We must be in close relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  We must be ready when that day and time comes.

It’s pretty simple.  If we turn to Jesus Christ right now and trust in Him, then for us, nothing will change.  We will remain with Him for eternity.  However, if we accept the ways of the world we will sink lower and lower into this world of moral decay and degradation.  And when we sit before the throne of judgment, God will cast us into the lake of fire and we will spend eternity in misery.

The problem with drugs, alcohol, sexual immorality and the things that seem to be taking over today is that a little is never enough.  Before you know it our sin has taken us farther than we ever wanted to go.  Romans 1:24 tells us that at some point we will just be given over to our own evil desires.  I know you hear that from me on a daily basis, but that is such a scary thing to me.  To think that eventually God will just give us over and let us have it our way.  So, I encourage you today to make Jesus your way.  Trust in Him.

We can’t save the world, but we can set an example.  We can try to lead others to Christ. Christ is our hope.  The only hope we have for our world today is Christ.  If these people would turn to Christ and turn away from their sin, we could literally have heaven on earth.  Now I don’t know about you, but I am living in the peace and joy that Christ brings into my life.  I am sad for those that don’t have Jesus, but I realized my great need for Him years ago.

I pray that you will do the same.  If you already have done this, then I pray that you do not shy away from boldly proclaiming your love of God. I pray that you set an example for others so that they can see what it looks like when we have Jesus.

Have a great day!
