The Lord reigns! Let the earth rejoice; let the many coasts and islands be glad. Clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him and burns up His foes on every side. His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord-at the presence of the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness; all the peoples see His glory. Psalm 97:1-6 HCSB
How are you living your life? Are you living with a heavy burden, thinking you have to do it all on your own? Are you living with the disappointment that comes from putting our faith in mere mortals? Are you living with the peace, comfort, and joy that comes from knowing that you serve a risen Savior? Are you living fearlessly knowing that whatever comes your way, you’ll walk through it with God by your side?
Some people talk a good game, but they fall horribly short when it comes time to walk it out. Each day that you wake up, you are faced with a very important decision. You can choose to rejoice and be glad in this day that God has made (Psalm 118:24) or you can choose to find something to grumble and complain about. Now, I don’t know about you, but I never have a shortage of things that I could grumble and complain about. But, if I focus on that, then this sets the tone for my whole day. This may cause my day to not go so well. But I have noticed something really awesome. If I focus on God and the beauty of His creation, the whole world looks a little brighter. If I trust God to handle my enemies and I do what He tells me to do, then I am not disappointed. If I trust God to take care of me and not let me fall, then I can stand firm and steady no matter what comes my way. If I trust God to walk me through the fire, then I will not get burned.
Now we can go to the mountain tops and proclaim that Jesus is Lord. We can tell everyone we know that we love the Lord. But, it’s how we live that tells the real story. Today, I encourage you to take a good, hard look at how you are living. Are you living a life that glorifies God? Are you living a life that would cause others to look at you and say, “Wow, I want what he has?”
Sadly, many so-called Christians live a life of fear, anxiety, grumbling, and complaining and wonder why they aren’t winning others to Christ. It just boggles the mind, doesn’t it? Who wants that? I surely don’t. I have lived that life and let me tell you, it was no fun.
Live like you know that the Lord reigns. Live like you know that righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Live like you know that fire consumes His enemies. Live like you know that He lights up the dark world. Live like you know that you serve an all powerful God that can handle anything that life throws at you. Live like you know that God’s got this!
If you are a Christian living in fear and anxiety, you might want to change how you are living. Just sayin’.
Have a great day!
